Project Sarurun

Bringing Symbols to Life

Welcome to Project Sarurun!

Thank you for visiting the official site of Project Sarurun!

Project Sarurun is a new grassroots network dedicated to helping small non-profits grow. We provide financial assistance by selling art (especially paper crane chandeliers) and using the proceeds to benefit a pre-selected non-profit.

In the future we will use our network of volunteers to advise our selected non-profits on ways to grow and improve. In addition to more orthodox advisory capabilities, our organizations and network will have the opportunity to participate in a new development model, whereby volunteers and local NGOs collaborate on a development project in real time, track its progress, and adapt the project as it progresses. We believe acting as a liaison between small non-profits and the community can be a beneficial experience for all—providing meaningful and substantive volunteer opportunities and enabling small organizations to benefit from a fresh perspective.

--July 12, 2009--

We now have profiles on Twitter, Identi.ca, and Facebook, and groups on Identi.ca and LinkedIn.  We are especially excited about the groups because of the possibilities for facilitating discussion and enabling collaboration between humanitarian nonprofits, charities, freelance volunteers, and even just the intellectually curious.

Thank you for those of you who agreed to volunteer. Notices will be sent out in the next day or so. Please join us as well in saying goodbye to a member of our staff here at Project Sarurun: Stephen Muse. He has been very supportive of the project during his time here and is now going to Ghana for humanitarian work. We wish him the greatest luck on his trip, and hope to see him back in the future. Thank you, Steve!

--June 30, 2009--

Due to the short duration of eBay auctions, Project Sarurun is postponing the auction date to July 12th, 2009. The action will last 10 days. This will give us more time to promote the product. Thank you for your patience
